Christmas 2010

We started Christmas vacation in Soda Springs, Idaho.  There was a ton of snow- perfect for sledding.

{Sorry for so many pictures, Christmas was small this year so I included lots of pictures for everyone in the family that missed out.}

After Soda, we headed up to Rexburg for the rest of Christmas weekend, then back to Provo.  Short and sweet.

Once there was a snowman...

tall, tall, tall

Along with the Pyfers, we welcomed Clay, Tiff and London home with a huge snowman hello.  I'm glad we have neighbors with a sense of humor!

First Snow of the Year

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

This year my mom, dad and Hannah came to UTAH for Thanksgiving. They fought through a blizzard and bitter cold weather to come up.  We had tons, tons of food and lots of fun- especially when I bet Evan and phase 10!  After dinner we went bowling and learned that bowling balls are a lot harder than a soccer ball...

Black Friday is by far my favorite tradition with my mom and sisters (sorry Sarah that you missed out this year).  We left the house at 10:30 pm to go and get in line.  We bought a few things- not worth standing outside for an few hours in 10 degree weather, but it was fun to goof around with Hannah (Mom stayed in the car and Dad and Evan went to bed in the heated house).

Halloween- just a little late

Ev and I were Waldo and Wendy.  Londy decided that she needed a the glasses.  It was so cute when she would push them up in the middle.

Homecoming

Finally- BYU won a game!  I'm glad that we were there to witness the win.  Ev and I had great seats and it was fun to go to the game together.  After we went to Cafe Rio with the Hiatts.

Cover Boy

After Evan came home from Amsterdam he was interviewed on campus about his trip.  He made the front page of the law school's website.  Love ya dude- just wanted to brag!

Gone Again...

Evan just left for Arizona today, came home from New York a few days ago and he is off to California in week.  I hate interviewing season!  At least I can go to CA for a weekend to see the fam while Ev interviews.

Boys will be boys

As a last hurrah before school starts, we have been hanging out with friends, going out to eat, fires up the canyon, and camping! I know mom- I WENT CAMPING!  AF canyon was so busy that weekend that we had a hard time finding a spot, but I think the boys did well.  With a little landscape work, the spot was perfect!

June/July

My hiatus is over; I needed a break from the blog world and I spent some time with friends and family and turned off my computer for a while.  Here is a quick update of the past couple of months- bear with me on the long post:

We moved- really I moved while Evan enjoyed Amsterdam!  I had everything packed and organized by room with color-coded labels. From the time the moving truck pulled up to the old house and the time it left the new, I am pretty sure that it was only 45 minutes!  Record time and everything was in the correct room so I didn't have to shuffle boxes everywhere.

To keep myself busy, I made a list of projects I wanted to do while Evan was gone.  I think I only finished 1/2 of them.  One I did finish was recovering our pillows on the couch.

My dad and little sis came up for a visit.  It was fun to see them and have someone else in the house since I was going crazy without Evan.

Evan was able to come home right before the 4th of July.  Which was probably best since the 4th is his all-time fav holiday! We went to the balloon festival at Provo High. It was so windy that only a few balloons went up, but it was still fun to walk around and watch them try to get some of the balloons up.

When Evan came home we went for a road trip to California and Arizona.  Ev was able to talk to a few different law firms about internships next summer.  We had so much fun with my family and with the Lesueurs. While we were in California we went to Sea World with my sisters and Evan's sister and her family.

We were able to spend the 24th with good friends from the neighborhood.  We went up to watch fireworks behind campus.  From where we were sitting, we could see the Carrie Underwood show on the big screen.

It was a fast summer.  We have really one more weekend before school starts again so hopefully we can do something fun.

24 Hours and counting

We checked in for Ev's flight this morning.  Sad that he is leaving and that I am stuck packing our entire house (minus the few boxes that Evan packed last night of books) to move into the new TOWNHOME!

Bucket List

Since Evan leaves in less than 3 days, we decided a few weeks ago that we were going to fit the whole summer's activities in 2 weeks.  Sorry here is what we have been up to...

Two weeks ago (May 14th) we went up to Midway with some good friends to hang out for the night.  When we woke up Saturday morning, we were greeted from a moose!

On Saturday the 15th Evan and I went with the Barnes to a Real Salt Lake game.  We had awesome seats!  They ended up in a tie with the Mexico team but we still had a lot of fun.

On Sunday we went for a drive to Salt Lake to the historic cemetery.  We had a fun time just walking around trying to find all the old prophets and their families.  It was just really peaceful and nice to walk and talk with one another.

Last weekend we just watched a few movies- can't really remember what- and hung out together.  On Sunday it was my birthday.  We went to a party for a friend on Sunday night and Monday we had a few friends over for ROOT BEER FLOAT cupcakes and ice cream.  It was really nice to see old friends again that will be moving on from Provo this summer.

We went to Tucanos last night for dinner.  It was so yummy and a nice way to celebrate my birthday for the fourth day in a row!  I love weekend birthdays because they never end.

Left on our list before Saturday at 4 am- fly a dang kite, BBQ on Friday, packing, and last minute shopping for things Ev needs.

Date Weekend

Ev and I went on a long weekend date a few weeks ago.  We started out on Friday with lunch at Paradise Bakery and then we went to see a movie, Date Night (don't really recommend, too crude for us). After the movie, we had time to kill before our dinner reservations, so we went and walked South Town Mall.  We bought a few shirts and just enjoyed walking around.  After the mall, we went and had dinner at La Caille. It was so good!  We had so much fun eating good food and being in such a beautiful restaurant.  Saturday we slept in, played tennis (I think, we play a lot so I am sure we did) and then went to see Sherlock Holmes.  It was a fun weekend together without cell phones and distractions.

On a happy note, Evan finished his first year of law school, completed the write-on for Law Review and has a few weeks left with me before he ships off to Amsterdam.  We are trying to fit in as much as we can before he leaves for the summer.

Breakfast

So since finals are this week, Evan has been going to bed late and waking up early.  So, one night while he was at school I decided to pre-make some breakfast for both of us.  I packed individual servings of smoothies so we can have a quick breakfast for on the go.  Just throw in the blender and a little juice or yogurt and you are good to go.   I also made for the first time sherbet minus the sugar and yucky stuff that comes from the store.  Each smoothie has 1 serving of dairy, a days worth of fiber, protein, and 2 to 3 servings of fruit.

Days of the week

Ev and I have our own systems to know what day of the week it is- who needs calendars. Evan counts how many pairs of shoes I have in the front room and I count bowls that Ev has in the dishwasher! Our system works pretty well.  ** And yes if you look closely, I did wear boots and sandals in the same week.  It is UTAH for Pete's sake.

Brain Washed

Have you ever seen that episode of The Office were Jim trains Dwight to want a breath mint every time his computer dings? Well I am pretty sure that I trained Evan's brain to want cookies whenever he wakes up from a nap! Almost every Sunday I bake- of course except yesterday because we were out of butter and eggs. Well, Ev woke up from his nap and asked for cookies! So we called up some neighbors and found butter and eggs so he can have his Sunday cookies.

No More Surgery

YEAH! I went to the doctor's office again today to set up a time and date for my surgery and the doctor cleared me for sports, running, and pretty much anything I want to do. My tendons began to repair themselves- which he has never seen and he has been practicing podiatry for 20+ years. Thanks everyone for all of your thoughts and prayers. They mean a lot to me. I just hope that between now and my next check-up in six months I don't do anything stupid again. Wish me luck...

The Curse

Good-bye cute shoes. Good-bye sports, the gym, and walking around the mall for hours. Good-bye being able to run errands in a timely manner. Good-bye skinny jeans with my new boots. Good-bye flats in the snow with no traction.

The curse of soccer has once again hit our family. Evan tore his ACL during the first soccer game of the season last year, so when he made it through our first soccer game this year healthy as can be- we were excited. But... I did not! I thought that I just sprained my ankle. A few weeks later and I am still sore and swollen so I went to the doctor yesturday. I tore a few ligaments and now I have to have surgery. Why do we play stupid sports like soccer? Wish me luck, I do not do well with pain. Once the swelling goes down I will be able to make an appointment for the big event...

At least it is my turn to be babied by my spouse!

Check Lists

If you have spent more that 10 seconds with me, you know that I LoVe LiStS! I have lists for my lists organized nicely in my binder. Well, two big things are now crossed off my list. I have been trying for years to find the best way to organize the hundreds of recipes that I have written on flash cards, post-it notes, slivers of paper, emails... Well now I have the solution, I wrote the Evan and Heather Pack Family Cookbook! I love it already! I printed most of the pages and will organize them this weekend. I am so excited to finally have a solution to my piles of papers.

The second thing off of my list is for Evan's birthday, so you will have to wait a few weeks for that one! But let's just say, I am glad that is done because it was very time consuming- fun and worth it- but time consuming.

Amsterdam & the Philippines

Both on our list of places to go this summer for work (Amsterdam)and for play (Philippines).
